Do you know the difference between Taiwan and China?

Before 1949 Taiwan and China were the same country, the official name was Republic of China(ROC).After 1949, due to the Chinese Civil War, the KMT government established itself in Taiwan whereas the Comunist regime established the People's Republic of China(PRC) on the mainland.Taiwan functions like any other separate and autonomous country in the world but struggles with more diplomatic difficulties than most other democratic countries.


Does Taiwan use the same language and writing as China?

The official language of both places is Mandarin Chinese. But Taiwanese write slightly different than Mainland Chinese. Taiwan and Hong Kong use the same traditional Chinese character from 1000 years ago, while Mainland Chinese use a simplified version of these characters created during the Cultural Revolution in 1950.

Spearking of the learning Chinese, I'd recommend you that study in Taiwan. However, Beijing, the capital of China is also a good option because I used to live in Beijing it's abundante of culture.
